Questions for Emi's dissertation methods

Hi Emi,

I really enjoyed reading the methods part of your dissertation. Below are some questions I have for your methodology. Perhaps some of them can be answered by looking at your whole dissertation paper.

1. How are the selection of variables and the mixed methods design of your study justified by the Affordance Theory?

2. Could you explain more about face and content validity?

3. In page 13 of this document, you said “The early versions of the taxonomy were based on Lu and Law (2011) and Min (2005). As I went through the data, I kept adjusting the taxonomy until I arrived at one that responded well to all my data”. Could you give us an example of how you adjusted the taxonomy?

4. It seems that you used personal narratives as the target writing genre (correct me if I am wrong). Why do you pick this type of genre, rather than any others?

5. I am interested in the calculation of minimum sample size you mentioned in page 19 of this document. Could you explain more about its underlying rationale? I know we can use a software called G-power to estimate required sample size of a quantitative study in order to achieve a certain level of power.
